One of the first questions we’re asked is: ‘Are elopements cheaper than traditional weddings?’ – and the answer is yes! With fewer guests, simpler logistics and shorter planning times we can help you to plan your romantic getaway and marriage package in Cornwall for a fraction of a traditional wedding cost.

Romantic Getaway and Marriage Packages in Cornwall (What’s Included)
The beauty of an elopement is that you can tailor things to exactly suit your taste, which is why rather than provide an all-inclusive one size fits all elopement package we offer a bespoke approach to your ceremony.
You’ll have a choice of indoor and outdoor spaces to get married in, including scenic hilltop viewpoints, our outdoor courtyard, romantic Woodshed or converted Piggery with underfloor heating.
In addition to your ceremony and accommodation, our wedding co-ordinator will also help you with any food, photography, flowers, music or cake arrangements you’d like to be made (at an additional cost). Our emphasis is on sustainable weddings, so we'll introduce you to the best local suppliers and even give you a tree to plant as a memory.
We’ll also take care of things like chairs, tables, crockery, cutlery and glasses for anything you have planned on site – and will be available through video calls and emails for any queries you have during the planning process.
Elopement Wedding Cornwall: Just the Two of Us or With Guests?
Typically an elopement includes between two and six people in total – we consider anything larger than this a micro-wedding. For groups of up to 24 people, we can offer you exclusive use of our Cornish farm wedding venue, with room for up to 16 guests to stay in our luxury holiday cottages.
Children are also welcome, along with pets. All we ask is that if you bring your dogs you cover the £50 cleaning charge.
‘Can we book an elopement wedding in Cornwall just the two of us?’ is a question we love to be asked – and the answer is YES, but there are a few legal things you need to consider which we’ll cover in the next section.
Cornwall Elopement Witnesses Provided: Legal vs Symbolic Ceremonies
For a legal marriage in the UK, you must make notice of your intention to marry at least a month beforehand and have two witnesses attend the ceremony in addition to yourselves and the wedding official.
At The Cornish Place, you can choose from a legally binding ceremony or a symbolic one if you prefer to handle the legal side of things at a registry office. We also have a list of celebrants you can choose from, if you prefer a non-traditional ceremony.
If you’re looking for a Cornwall elopement with witnesses provided, we can help you with that too, free of charge. This makes it possible to achieve an elopement wedding in Cornwall with just the two of you.
Create Your Perfect Romantic Elopement Wedding in Cornwall (Your Vision)
Once you’ve decided on the type of ceremony, the venue and who you’re going to invite to your wedding, it’s time to think about what you want your day to look like.
Whether it’s a low-key affair which you decide to keep casual, or a more traditionally styled route, our romantic getaway and marriage packages in Cornwall can help make your vision come true.
Here are some of the additional services our wedding co-ordinator can help you plan into your day:
Licensed bar in the Paddock
Wedding dinner or breakfast in your cottage or the Piggery
Food arrangements ranging from casual to high-end
Wedding photography
Wedding cakes
Flowers and decorations
Nearby honeymoon activities
As a minimum, we’d suggest an elopement photographer so you can cherish your day long into the future. Our second suggestion is to have a cake and fizz, because cake always makes the day feel special!
How Far in Advance Should You Book an Elopement in Cornwall?
With less to organise, it’s possible to book an elopement much sooner than a traditional wedding, though timings will depend on your vision and the season of your booking.
Most elopements in Cornwall are booked between 3 and 18 months in advance, but for simpler occasions with less arrangements it may be possible to book sooner.
