The Dairy Shed Through The Eyes Of A VIP Guest!

Ever since moving to Cornwall 3 years ago (almost to the day!) we’ve tried hard to find the very best in local producers and shops… not just for our own purchases, but for the cottages and to recommend to guests. After all, that’s part of what Cornwall’s good at!

Once we had decided to move here, I became mildly obsessed with finding the best in Cornish instagram accounts, as well as inspiration for what to do with the various different houses I thought we might buy (we made offers on 6 houses along the way - just typing that sends shivers down my spine!!). This is when I discovered Alice Collyer.

Alice has a cute little shop called Alice in Scandiland in Lostwithiel - a beauty of a space to visit on the way down here, full of wonderful Scandi style homewares in a pretty little village at the top of the River Fowey. It’s not that local to us, so her online shop is very handy!

She has also transformed her family house into a magical indoor/outdoor space and documents it on Instagram, complete with the very real trials and tribulations that are all too often missing from interiors accounts.

So once it became apparent that the interiors of the Dairy Shed were taking on a bit of a Scandi theme (I’d love to say it was always the plan, but the workings of my brain and many Pinterest boards took a few interesting turns along the way!), it felt like Alice was a perfect guest to invite for a bit of a nose.

I think it’s fair to say that my worries about whether Alice would like The Cornish Place were unfounded. Spending 24 hours on her own before the rest of the family arrived, she experienced the perfect peace and quiet and treated herself to a massage in the Piggery from the wonderful Eva.

Then on day two the rest of her family arrived for a proper family weekend away. The girls loved the bunk room, they all splashed in the hot tub and did the proper touristy things that this part of Cornwall offers - sometimes just getting an hour away from home is enough for a proper change of scenery.

Do head over to Alice’s blog and have a read about what she thought…. and take advantage of her discount code for stays booked here in May and June.
